ONE NATION

God’s (YHVH’S) plan for the redemption of mankind was to be worked out through one nation.

Through this nation, YHVH would reveal Himself – Map of IsraelHis character and His nature, so that all nations would come to know Him.

Eventually, in His own time, YHVH would send His Son, Jesus Christ, (Yeshua Ha Mashiach), as Saviour of the world, born as a Jew and born in the land of Israel.

YHVH chose one man, a righteous man, Abram, from whom a nation would be born; a nation created for His purposes.

“I will make you a great nation; I will bless you and make your name great;  And you shall be a blessing. And I will bless those who bless you and I will curse those who curse you.”

(Genesis 12:2-3)

Through Abraham’s son, Isaac, and grandson, Jacob, the nation of Israel would be born.

(YHVH would later change Jacob’s name to Israel).

THE LAND

YHVH provided for His Nation – He said to Abram

“Get out of your country, from your family…….to a land that I will show you.”

(Genesis 12:1)

YHVH established EVERLASTING COVENANTS with Abram, changing his name to Abraham –

“No longer shall your name be Abram, but your name shall be Abraham, for I have made you a father of many nations.”

“And I will establish My covenant between Me and you and your descendants after you in their generations, for an everlasting covenant……”

(Genesis 17:1-7)

“Also I give to you and your descendants after you the land in which you are a stranger, all the land of Canaan, as an everlasting possession;…..”

(Genesis 17:8)

“Then YHVH ELOHIM (The LORD GOD) took the man and  put him in the Garden of Eden to tend and keep it. And YHVH ELOHIM commanded the man, saying

Of every tree in the garden you may freely eat; but of the tree of the Knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.”

(Genesis 3:17)

When Adam and Eve chose to believe the serpent (Satan) and ignore YHVH ELOHIM’S command, the impact would be catastrophic for all of mankind.

Death meant separation from  YHVH

and YHVH’S desire was that man should be reconciled to Himself.

The Redemption of mankind was to be worked out through one nation. Through this nation YHVH would reveal Himself, His character and nature, His

goodness and severity

(Romans 11: 22)

The people of this nation were to be faithful to Him. YHVH’S ultimate objective, was, in His time, to bring salvation to the world. This was to be achieved through the Son, Jesus Christ (Yeshua Ha Mashiach). Yeshua would be born into this nation, Israel; He would be born a Jew, in the land of Israel.

The Redeemer will come to Zion

says YHVH (Isaiah 59:20)

YHVH chose one man, from whom He would bring forth this nation. A righteous man who lived among people with pagan beliefs.  This man had faith, he believed in the one true God – his name was Abram and YHVH formed a personal relationship with him. Historically, Abram was descended from Shem, the son of Noah, another righteous man who lived among wicked, idolatrous people.

Through this line Abram – Isaac – Jacob the nation of Israel would be born.

Abram >   Descended from Noah’s son, Shem

Adam > Noah   – ten generations (Genesis 5:1-32)

Noah  > Abram – ten generations (Genesis 11:10-32)

YHVH said to Abram

Get out of your country, from your family and from your father’s house, to a land that I will show you.”

“I will make you a great nation, I will bless you and make your name great….. I will bless those who bless you and I will curse him who curses you; and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.

(Genesis 12:1, 2-3)

By Faith, Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance (Hebrews 11:8).

YHVH established covenants with Israel; these covenants were sovereign declarations.

The Abrahamic Covenant was an everlasting covenant; the first with Israel; a foundational covenant.

I am Almighty God : walk before Me and be blameless. And I will make my covenant between Me and you……My covenant is with you and you shall be a father of many nations. No longer shall your name be called Abram, but your name shall be Abraham; for I have made you a father of many nations….

(Genesis 17:1-5)

And I will establish My covenant between Me and you and your descendants after you in their generations, for an everlasting covenant….”

(Genesis 17 :7)

This covenant covered the People/Nation and the Land.

YHVH gave to Abraham and his descendants the whole land of Canaan, as an everlasting possession.

Also I give to you and your descendants after you the land in which you are a stranger; all the land of Canaan, as an everlasting possession; and I will be their God.”

(Genesis 17: 8)

YHVH confirmed His promises to Abraham’s son Isaac:

Dwell in this land, and I will be with you and will bless you, for to you and your offspring I will give all these lands, and I will establish the oath that I swore to Abraham your father. I will multiply your offspring as the stars of heaven and will give to your offspring all these lands. And in your offspring all the nations of the earth shall be blessed, because Abraham obeyed My voice and kept My charge, My commandments, My statutes and My laws.”

(Genesis 26: 3-5)

YHVH spoke to Isaac’s son, Jacob, in a dream:

“….I am YHVH ELOHIM, the God of your father Abraham and the God of Isaac; the land on which you lie I will give to you and your descendants. Also your descendants shall be as the dust of the earth; you shall spread abroad to the west and the east, to the north and the south; and in you and in your seed all the families of the earth shall be blessed…..”

(Genesis 28 : 13-15)

YHVH remembers His covenant forever, The word which He commanded for a thousand generations; the covenant which He made with Abraham, and His oath to Isaac, and confirmed it to Jacob, for a statute to Israel as an everlasting covenant.

To you I will give the land of Canaan as the allotment of your inheritance.”

(Psalm 105:8-11)

Purposed to be a Holy Nation

And you shall be to me a Kingdom of Priests and a HolyNation

(Exodus 19:6)

“A Holy People to YHVH your God. For you are a people for Himself, a Special Treasure, above all peoples.”

(Deuteronomy 12:2)

Responsibility for this privilege was great:

I set before you …. A blessing and a curse. The blessing if you obey the commandments of YHVH your God…. And the curse if you do not obey…

The Promise

The promise is fulfilled at the end of the Exodus from Egypt.

See, I have set the land before you; go in and possess the land which YHVH swore to your fathers—to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob—to give to them and their descendants after them.”

(Deuteronomy 1:8)

YHVH regards Israel as His land.

“I will gather all nations…..I will enter into judgement with them… on account of My people, My heritage Israel , whom they have scattered among the nations; they have also divided up MY land.”

(Joel 3: 2)

Israel is My son, my firstborn.”

(Exodus 4:22-23)
